Angel of death285 viewsThis was before I drilled her eyes out, painted the inside of her head red, and put red superbright LEDs in her head. She's quite creepy at night now. She came from the store in plain gray with some sloppy green overspray, but got faux granited and aged before being put in the cemetery. Lovely little detail that I spent WAY too much time on...Gothikim

Front yard at night278 viewsTaken a couple of days after H-ween, this photo shows the cemetery with a blur of my 3 yr old running down the sidewalk :) Gothikim

Tabitha cutting eyes at Spot273 viewsMy Spirit Hellhound still spooks the DD, who named him Spot last year. She'll hug up on the reaper, but doesn't dig his faithful canine companion :)Gothikim

Dancing ghost circle in garage269 viewsThis was after H-ween; some stuff is in the foreground already boxed up! The ghosts are suspended from a wheel that turns them @ about 6 RPM. Each has a different face (thank you, Model Magic!) and different costume. They were lit with 4 24" blacklights: 2 positioned above and to the side and 2 positioned in front and at about head level.
The kiddos and their parents LOVED these ladies!Gothikim

Our FCG--Isabella257 viewsAlthough she was made for 05, this was the first time we got a half-decent photo of her in action. Her LED eyes (green) had already burned out by this point though....Gothikim

Glowing ghostie with blacklight underneath250 viewsShe was visible on the next block. I had the ghostie out last year, and she glowed OK, but this year I made some changes that really lit her up: 2 blacklights, hardware cloth torso and hips that let light through into her body.Gothikim

Green stone--no flash178 viewsSlightly closer to the true color, still a little yellowish from the light quality.Gothikim

Second stone for 06//arch top in green marble//flash166 viewsBased on a stone from a New England cemetery, with an inscription from another stone of the same approx age. The flash washes out the greenish serpentine marble like finish (Fleckstone Monet's Garden). YES, the inscription is wonky. Lesson learned: lay out and mark inscriptions (don't cut out though) BEFORE any detailed carving, so if you screw up, you can flip it over & start afresh!Gothikim

Gravestone--mid-1850s pink sandstone Jewell162 viewsBased on a real stone in New England, this one is 33 high by 16 wide. The carving was all done by hand, as I hadn't broken out the Dremel & router attachment yet! The paint is Fleckstone, color name Canyon Rock (or something like that). The inscription is based on another gravestone, with some modifications.

Gravestone--pink sandstone--detail of relief panel158 viewsMy first foray into elaborate carving. I've since discovered an easy way to make things more symmetrical (like the whorls on the acanthus leaves & the swag), but all in all, I'm pretty happy with it. Painting this bit was a beeotch!
